My "Gap Model"

Micah, I have a friend that, every time she sees your pictures tells me that you should be a Gap Model. I must say that you are so handsome with your BIG blue eyes and your curls. I am a little worried when you get old enough to be interested in girls. They are already interested in you and you are only two. There is a cute little blonde girl in your Mother's Day Out class who, the other day was trying to tell you bye when we were leaving. She must have said "bye Micah" like 15 times and you just ignored her. I must say that even though I want you to be nice to your friends, I am ok with you not being interested in any girls other than your mommy and your sister for now. I know that someday (hopefully in the VERY distant future) I will have to share you with another woman, but for now, you are my Micah. And now for a few pics...

Learning with my "littles": week 1

I have a friend, Natalie who calls her kids "littles" and my friend Stacy does too. At first I thought it sounded a little weird, but it quickly grew on me and now that is what I am calling you kiddos. I started this new thing this week where I am trying to do lots of fun learning activities with you and Karis on the days that you are not at school (Mother's Day Out). Here are some of the fun things that we did this week...
These are the baskets that we made to keep all of our stuff in.
You are my silly boy!
Wednesday was supposed to be "arts and crafts" day, but we took a field trip to the zoo since daddy and nana were both off of work that day and could go with us.
We made homemade ice cream "kid-style".
It ended up being a little "soupy", but you still liked it.

A Look Back...

Micah,
Since I didn't start these letters until you were two years old, I want to tell you some things about you up to now.  Finding out that you were on the way was a bit of a surprise.  Karis was only 7 months old when I found out that I was pregnant with you.  Still, we were very excited to be having another baby!  When we found out that we were having a boy, I was a combination or happy and scared out of my mind.  I am still learning how to raise boys and as I said in my first letter to you, you are "all boy".  You were 8 lbs, 7 oz and 20 inches long at birth.  You had plenty of hair, but it did not turn curly until you were a year old.  Let me just go ahead and say that I LOVE your curls!  I think part of the reason I love them so much is that it is something that you got from your mommy.  They also just make you look so adorable.  If you keep those curls in combination with your beautiful big blue eyes and mischievous smile, you are definitely going to be a heart breaker someday.  I won't be able to keep the girls away! ;)  You rolled over from your tummy to your back at one month which I thought was amazing!  I didn't think anyone would believe me when I told them, so I would show anyone who would let me (mostly family).  After that, you did everything pretty much right when most kids do.  You crawled at 6-7 months and walked at 13 months.  I have a video of your first steps walking towards a basketball goal at a friend's house.  You continue to be on the short side for now, but sometimes boys have late growth spurts, so we'll just have to see.  Your head, however, is in the 90th percentile!  We always knew that it was big because I had trouble getting some of your shirts over it.  The dr said that some people link head size to intelligence.  I already know that you are super smart, but maybe there is a link.  You are different from your sister in the verbal department.  You talk well, but you really love to sign too.  I think you are more visual.  You started signing "please", "eat" and "more" at a very young age and even though you can clearly communicate with words now, you continue to use the signs as well.  I wasn't sure if you knew things such as colors, numbers, letters, shapes.  Karis was always so eager to tell me what she knew, but you were different.  You might not answer when I asked you "What shape is this?" but one day you were in the bathtub and you picked up every letter and told me what it was.  You even knew the lower case.  You would randomly tell me colors.  Right now, yellow seems to be your favorite.  And while we are on favorites, your favorite letter is "O".  There is an episode of "Word World" that is titled "The Runaway Letter 'O'".  You like to carry a roll of duct tape around the house and call it the letter "O".  I soon found out that you also knew all the numbers to 15, maybe 20 and the shapes as well, including octagon.  Like I said, you were not as outwardly verbal as far as offering this information, but as I paid more attention, I realized that you know a lot more than you let on.  You were always an easy baby.  You were only fussy at the very beginning when you were not getting enough to eat, and who wouldn't be?!  You have always loved to hug.  You might just hug me and then run off to play, but you would come up to me several times a day and say "I want hug".  I tried to always stop whatever I was doing to hug you because after some quick lovin' you would be gone.  You have always been my sweet boy and I hope that you always will be no matter how big you get.  I love you so much and I can't wait to see what the future has in store for you!

I love you!

All Boy...

Micah,
The best way that I know to describe you is "all boy"!...and its a good thing since I refuse to cut your curls too much.  I keep them trimmed, but you are just too cute with them for me to let them go!  My nickname for you has always been "Boo".  It all started because you would not sit down in the bath tub, so I was constantly saying "Sit Boo-Boo!".  Eventually, I shortened it to "Boo".  "Micah-rumba" is what aunt Andrea (and cousin Anora Jane) calls you.  I use it sometimes as well.  Daddy normally just calls you "Son!".  I wish that I had started these letters for you two years ago when you were born, but I will include some posts about you as a baby at some point to make up for it.  Right now you are into and on top of everything!  Up until you were two, I called you my "easy child".  You ate well, although you are more picky than your sister about what you will eat.  You were happy all the time and you rarely got into trouble.  You are still a happy child, although I think your sister has taught you how to throw some fits.  You just can't seem to sit still.  I walked into your room one morning last week and you were sitting on top of your dresser as happy as could be!  You have also been seen standing on top of the dining room table at nana and granddaddy's house spinning the chandelier, standing on the table in our backyard, climbing over the back of the couch, and getting into every toy that is for Asher including the Bumbo, the bouncer seat, the Johnny Jumper, and the walker.  Every time I turn around I find myself having to tell you "no" about something.  You make me nervous about potential trips to the ER as you get older.  Have I told you that I don't do blood?!  You don't always speak super clearly, but you love to sign.  Your favorite signs are "please" (you have learned that's the only way to get something from me or daddy), "more", "eat" and "baseball" (although you also know the signs for "basket ball", "foot ball", "soccer", and "coach").  You also say the cutest things.  Some of my favorites are, "how-e-bout...", "Oh, thank you momma!", and "Oh, that's beautiful!" (You will say that about anything).  You refer to the van as the "van, van, van" because of the song that we sing while we are getting in (to the tune of Jingle Bells) and you always spell out B-A-T-H because of the song aunt Andrea made up for bathtime.  The other day, I heard you say, "Brandon, I need your help!".  I wonder where you heard that? ;)  You love trains!...especially Thomas.  You have a train table here as well as one at nana and granddaddy's house.  And speaking of granddaddy, he and you have a special bond.  Maybe its because he has no sons and you are the first grandson.  You are always asking, "Where is granddaddy?" and everyone says you look just like him.  (If only they could see my baby pictures!)  You are just starting to potty train and you have Thomas big boy underwear. (and some Yo Gabba Gabba).  You are very animated, especially in your facial expressions, which makes you very photogenic.  Everyone tells me how cute you are all the time!  You are a good big brother and I think you can't wait until Asher is old enough to wrestle with.  I am nervous about the destruction the two of you will cause together.  I love you so much and I can't wait to write you more letters telling you all kinds of crazy stories!
